‘Legacy’ Beer To Be Tapped At June 7 Sasquatch Brew Fest

The annual Sasquatch Brew Fest, coming up June 7 at Ninkasi Brewing Co. in Eugene, raises money to support development of education scholarships for aspiring professional brewers. And every year, beneficiaries meet to develop a Sasquatch Legacy Project beer to be served at the next festival.

On Friday, May 8, 2013 the three winners - Acacia Cooper of Anderson Valley Brewing Co. (Boonville, California), Joel Shields Rogue Ales (Newport) and Sandi Shivers of Kona Brewing Co. (Kailua -Kona, HI) - they convened brewhouse Whiteaker - Ninkasi neighborhood where embroidery got honor " hop- head" and worked with founder Jamie Floyd brewer and other staff to prepare a session Ninkasi dark wheat IPA.

The characteristics of the beer 2 - Row Pale Malt , White Wheat malt and midnight wheat , and ' flight Falconer hops - a blend of hop varieties preferred by Glen Falconer (also known as "Sasquatch "), an influential Eugene Brewer whose untimely death in 2002 inspired Floyd and others to establish the Sasquatch Brew Fest.

Falconer’s family created the nonprofit Foundation Glen There Falconer that the product of the beer festival and other events to raise funds applies to educate brewers and support the community of brewing in Glen memory. A nonprofit group sister, Northwest Legends Foundation distributes a portion of the proceeds of the beer festival to other charitable causes.

Sasquatch Legacy Project beer this year - and some other 75 60 Northwest breweries - will be utilized when the Sasquatch Brewfest 12 - year will begin at noon on Saturday, June 7 in the parking lot of local distribution Ninkasi , 155 Blair Blvd . Tickets will be $ 10 at the door.

May 21 issue of the Register Guard Tastings will include a preview of the two Sasquatch Brewfest and Eugene Beer Week (June 2-8).
