Sasquatch! Music Festival Will Not Return in 2019

“Today we take a bow and bid farewell to Sasquatch!,” Zacks said in a statement. “I will no longer be producing the festival, nor will it take place in 2019.” It is unclear whether the festival may be picked up by another entity in the future.

In 2002, Zacks launched Sasquatch!, which was held annually at Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington. This year’s event, which took place over Memorial Day weekend, featured Bon Iver, the National and Modest Mouse. Over the years, the festival grew from a single day to a three-day event (it spanned four days from 2011 to 2013). In 2014, the Memorial Day weekend festival expanded to encompass a Fourth of July weekend edition, but the second holiday weekend was canceled after failing to generate enough support from fans. Last year, Frank Ocean nixed his headlining appearance a few weeks before the festival commenced.

“Seventeen years is a long time to do anything. The Beatles lasted a mere eight years, a fact so astonishing it is difficult to believe,” Zacks continued in his statement. “While we didn’t accomplish anything as indelible as ‘Hey Jude,’ the festival left a lasting mark and proudly represented an independent spirit.

“Sasquatch! will forever remain a tapestry of the people who worked with us, the artists who inspired us, and the varied experiences of the fans who attended it… of friendships made, engagements, hilltop weddings, permanent tattoos, once in a lifetime collaborations, weather events both treacherous and magnificent, at least one very public conception and, of course, hundreds of awe-inspiring performances,” he concluded. “My humblest gratitude to you all.”

Sasquatch Music Festival 2014: Photos + Recap

The thought must have come to me dozens of time during my first weekend at the Sasquatch Festival in command to George Washington away , but the name is no coincidence Gorge Amphitheater - the place is just beautiful .

Like everyone else who has been in the party will attest, the act on the main stage is almost secondary to what is happening behind him: no such huge, winding canyons to give way to a placid Columbia River. The whole scene stretches forever and seems to be a cursed painting, a little smoke and mirrors trick or impossibly high green screen. A view of this beautiful on top of a music festival thus becomes a really bad place with zero seats. Because even those on the way back from the place - like me, for MIA or Cold War Kids this weekend of Memorial Day - still has the best seat in the house.

They are taking this view in. And as someone who recently moved to Washington (Tacoma permanently is where I live), let's get this out of the way - I love the Sasquatch! Festival, The Gorge and the beautiful state of Washington. Then travel by U.S. covering different festivals - from Chicago to Alabama to Tennessee all the way to the latest offering from West- Sasquatch has been one of the most pleasant in general , and not only in terms of support.

The festival has just seen its growth in the last 12 years. From small beginnings in 2002, a matter of a single day that featured the String Cheese Incident headlining, the festival expanded almost to the territory of two weekends this year. After the lack of support in the second weekend , the festival reduced to a single weekend , three-day event festival of cutting a July 4 weekend have offered sets of Frank Ocean , Neutral Milk Hotel, Soundgarden , Kraftwerk and more. But from the start and support this weekend, I would not have guessed. The sellout was a pleasure - and from what I saw for the most part, especially there to enjoy the music instead of getting hammered (save my camping neighbors and some exceptions).

Of course, the shows were great. You’ll see plenty of evidence of that in the photo gallery above. Here, however, let's take a look at the acts of tier timespan : Floor (1 pm- 3: 30 pm ) Eastern ( 15:30 to 20:00 ) and the headliners (20:00 - midnight). If you attended the party, feel free to chime in in the comments section below.

Lower Tier

I felt sorry for those with hangovers this weekend; this was a good year to show up early for. Of all the events from the beginning, it was hard to beat Stockholm, First Aid Kit from Sweden on Saturday. Before the party, I saw their live videos online, but could not have expected the beauty that came out of this sister duo. The two do not play it safe with their set and pull their debut, the lion's roar, and 2012. Instead, the two broke out a heavy dose of his next LP, Stay Gold, and holy shit these are beautiful melodies in vivo. (Well, their covers of Bob Dylan and Paul Simon were pretty amazing too).

Their harmonies lay somewhere between otherworldly and virtuous; There's really nothing in the record to compare with this sister duo and their set of principles made it a little difficult to wait for the record. A similar impression was made by Lucius favorites Paste Sunday, captivated an audience at the start of play equipment allowing blacks their growing harmonies speak for them. As someone who has seen the band on several dates this year, it's almost like you do not change a whole and the dynamics on the ground depending on the venue. For this occasion , the black suit - placement played heavy, strong and triumphant angle , making sure that there would have to compete with a stage anywhere near him.

The criminal - low levels for Tune -Yards played early on Sunday September 1 , which was received by a crowd that was clearly ahead of time to support the event . Although the songs of the band's last , Nikki Nack , dance may not have the appeal of his past catalog ( closer Save settings "water " ) , the team brought a very satisfying whole, very danceable for those who came before time . We also loved Seattle Own Light, who played his whole surf- drenched crowd early Monday. Ladies get bonus points for fitting a straight line -dance in the middle of a pretty full crowd.

Outkast Generates The Buzz For Jam-Packed 2014 Sasquatch Music Festival

The annual Sasquatch Music Festival kicks off on Friday at the Gorge Amphitheater, and there is plenty to get excited about this year. With more than 100 artists across five stages in three days, there is a little something for everyone.

The act buzziest this year, sits right on top of the bill with the newly re- formed Atlanta rap duo Outkast. Big Boi and Andre 3000 were two of the most ubiquitous figures in the music business following the release of his double Speakerboxxx / The Love Below 2003 registration monster. Three years later, it was over.

Andre 3000 of Outkast hits in Counterpoint 2014 in Rome, Georgia The newly reunited duo will perform at the Sasquatch Music Festival this weekend.

Well, the hiatus is over, and Outkast is back. When you take the stage Friday night, will be the fifth time since officially re- formed.

The rest of that first day is stacked with eclectic bands and artists from a wide range of genres, but hip -hop is where it's at. It begins with the first performance at the Bigfoot Stage for Seattle stalwart’s local physics, and offering rap acts throughout the day is so impressive with Raz Simone, De La Soul and rapper Chance all grooving.

Saturday brings a list of indie and rock acts, bringing the day headliners The National his third appearance at the festival. And take note: Earlier in the day, Neko Case Sasquatch appearance extended his record eight festivals. Other acts should not - miss Saturday include alt -rockers the Violent Femmes and Band of Skulls, rappers MIA and the owner of Sol Seattle Animal Collective and Panda Bear and founder of rock duo Hobosexual.

The last day of the festival could be their most diverse. Starting at the top, there is gut -busting rock courtesy of Queens Band Josh Homme of the Stone Age. From thence His forefront Kid Cudi rap, cool indie -pop and Tuneyards Haim, and some great events Legacy as 60 re - discovered folk -rock artist Rodriguez and Hüsker Dü frontman Bob Mould.

Earlier this year, Sasquatch tried to add a second festival weekend Fourth of July, but abandoned the plan when fans did not respond. While the second weekend could not have cast a little shadow over the festivities this weekend, the lineup of talent has the potential to become one of the best festivals yet.

And time seems to be cooperative, with highs in the 70s and little rain in the forecast.
